We proudly announce that Karen Hamrick is our 2023-2024 Classified Employee of the Year at Ernest Kimme Charter Academy.
Karen goes above and beyond daily to ensure our campus looks great for our kids. Her pride in how our facility comes across to current and prospective students is apparent. She works hard to make sure that staff and students have a facility that is clean and safe in which to operate.
Building strong relationships with students is a priority for her. She strongly believes in the power of a positive adult relationship with our students. She always says hi to kids, talks to them about their personal lives, and encourages them to stay the course when some want to give up. She can be seen laughing with kids, giving them “mom” talks, or hugging them when upset. There is nothing she wouldn’t do to ensure a kid has what they need.
Her pride in ensuring our campus was beautiful and safe kept her going through the many weeks she didn’t have help. She does this while teaching a custodial training course at Muzetta Thrower Adult Education Center, training new custodians and custodial subs, and being a union representative on the negotiations team.
Karen has always shown dedication, pride in her work, and a strong work ethic, which was apparent this past year.
