Short Term Independent Study

A student sits outdoors with an open textbook or workbook on their lap, their hand resting on the page, while a laptop computer is open nearby.

Short Term Independent Study is an option for students who are absent for 2 or more consecutive days. It may be used for illness, mental health needs, family emergencies, and vacations. Students may use a maximum of 15 days per school year.

Please complete the form linked below. Once submitted, the request is approved and students may begin completing work immediately. The office will only contact you if your student has exceeded their 15-day limit.

Students can log in to Google Classroom and complete any posted assignments. Paper assignments may be completed once the student returns to school.

It is important for students to complete their work — they will receive full credit for the assignment and full attendance credit, as if they were never absent. This matters because students are expected to maintain at least 85% attendance.

Students with incomplete Short Term Independent Study work will be assigned to a Short Term Independent Study Bootcamp, held after school at least once per quarter.
